A village pub which was saved from closure is set to open its doors at 5pm today, Thursday, as its new landlords look forward to serving customers. Ryan Robinson, from Ramsbottom, and his partner Abigail Bamford, from Edgworth, have taken over the running of the Hamers Arms in Summerseat. They both have a wealth of hospitality experience behind them and are “passionate” about creating a welcoming space for families to enjoy.

Ryan, who has lived in the area for more than 36 years, said: “We’re looking forward to cracking on now and meeting our customers. “We want to create a cosy space for families, dog walkers, and anyone who appreciates good food and ales to enjoy.” The chef has previously worked in kitchens across the borough and in the Lake District, including Owens in Ramsbottom , The Bird at Birtle in Heywood and Nutters Restaurant in Rochdale.

Abigail has worked in a front-of-house role at The Bird in Birtle for the past eight years and will continue to do so while supporting the Hamers Arms in her free time. The pair are bringing back classic Sunday roasts, with the option of roast beef, chicken, or mushroom and brie wellington, which will be served between 12pm to 6.30pm each Sunday.

There will also be full English breakfasts and barms served from 9.30am to 12pm on weekends. Ryan added: “We’ve both worked in pubs and restaurants for years and decided it was time to have a go on our own.

" He has given the menu a “modern twist” while providing “a posher version of pub grub”. They offer vegetarian and vegan options, along with traditional favourites of bangers and mash, a double smashed burger, fish and chips, cheese and onion pie, sticky toffee pudding and apple crumble. The pub is owned by Star Pubs and Bars and benefited from a £250,000 upgrade in 2022.

It was saved from closure a year later when former landlady Lisa Moore took over on a temporary contract. Customers can view the full menu and make bookings through the pub website..
