Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders discussed Saturday's viral postgame exchange with Colorado State signal caller Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi on his podcast 2Legendary with Shedeur Sanders. The conversation was caught on hot mics as Sanders rejected Fowler-Nicolosi's handshake following Colorado's 28-9 victory. "After the game, I said something to the Colorado State quarterback, because he was talking crazy on social media, and he was really doing it for the clicks," Sanders said (1:50 mark of the video below.

Sanders continued: "I said what I had to say to him, because he wasn't telling the truth in nothing that he was saying. It felt like a lot of hate to me, personally." Sanders was referring to a preseason interview with Fowler-Nicolosi with CBS News Colorado, which was shared by CBS Sports' Romi Bean in the week leading up to the matchup.

In the interview, Fowler-Nicolosi talked about the 2023 in-state rivalry matchup, during which Colorado won in overtime during a close home game. "They came out with that attitude and thought it was going to be a cakewalk," Fowler-Nicolosi said (transcription h/t Fox Sports ). "They got a rude, rude awakening real quick.

I think it goes to show the hype, the media train, all that only gets you so far. At the end of the day, you have to line up 11 guys against our 11 guys and we'll find out who wants it more. We'll see how far Instagram followers gets them.

" Sanders objected to those comments, as well as to Fowler-Nicolosi directing the " too small " gesture toward Travis Hunter during the 2024 matchup. Hunter later picked off one of Fowler-Nicolosi's passes on his way to recording 100 receiving yards. "The Colorado State quarterback, he hit the too small pose on Travis, there was no purpose to doing that.

.. he did that, Travis got a pick on him, and Travis went for 100, so it was like, 'How he too small?'" Sanders said.

Sanders finished the game having gone 36-of-49 for 310 yards and four touchdowns, while Fowler-Nicolosi went 22-of-39 for 209 yards and two interceptions. It has now been a decade since this in-state rivalry has gone Colorado State's way. The Rams last defeated the Buffaloes in August of 2014.
