VISTA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — A trio of burglars was caught on surveillance video stealing more than $12,000 worth of kitchen equipment from a Vista restaurant earlier this month.The break-in occurred around 3:15 a.
m. on April 5 at Prohibition Brewing Company. Video footage shows a masked man using bolt cutters to break into a storage unit behind the restaurant, while two accomplices helped load the stolen equipment into a white Kia.
“Cuts the lock, take that right off — voila, they’re in,” said owner Kyle Adams, who has operated the business for 13 years.More than 90,000 Xanax pills seized by Border Patrol on I-5The stolen items included a commercial-grade toaster, blender and meat slicer. Adams said he was left feeling “vulnerable” after the break-in.
“Obviously I was upset, very frustrated that someone could just blatantly come in the middle of the night and take our stuff,” he said.Days after the burglary, Adams spotted a white Kia that closely resembled the one used in the crime driving slowly through the restaurant’s parking lot.“They stopped almost by where they had just stolen that equipment,” he said.
“It’s very hard to believe that exact same Kia — with painted back wheels, regular wheels in the front, the same sticker in the back and the same hat that person was wearing in the back seat — wasn’t the same car. Pretty darn sure.”Adams later shared the surveillance footage on social media, which included images of one suspect — a woman who did not cover her face.
He also posted daytime video of the white Kia.Assault victim, suspect identified in Lemon Grove homicideHe said several community members came forward with tips after recognizing the vehicle, and he has passed that information on to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.“We are narrowing it down and they’re going to find you,” Adams said in a message directed to the suspects.
“The cops are coming for you.”Adams said he was able to obtain at least a partial license plate number and believes arrests are likely in the near future..
