After his Dancing With the Stars exit on Tuesday, Dwight Howard is ready to move on to new endeavors. The veteran big man is looking for another shot in the NBA, and he has a team in mind. On Kevin Garnett's podcast, All the Smoke, Howard made his pitch to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
"OKC, your boy is ready," he said. "What's happening? Y'all need a big. Y'all need somebody that's going to bring some energy.
I ain't got nothing to do neither, I just got finished dancing. Me and (Alex Caruso) together, championship. I'm just saying, we did it before.
Y'all already got a superstar, y'all just need somebody who know how to play defense. That's certified." Oklahoma City is dealing with some early-season injury woes in the front court as Chet Holmgren, Isiah Hartenstein and Jaylin Williams are all currently sidelined.
Holmgren suffered a pelvic fracture earlier this week and won't get an update on his status for at least eight weeks. Hartenstein, who has a small, nondisplaced fracture in his left hand, is out for a few more weeks while Williams is working his way back from a hamstring strain . The 38-year-old Howard has not played since the 2021-22 season when he put up 6.
2 points and 5.9 rebounds off the bench for the Los Angeles Lakers. He spent one season in 2022-23 playing with the Taoyuan Leopards of the T1 League in Taiwan.
Howard, once an unstoppable force in his prime, likely wouldn't be a huge difference-maker for the Thunder, but as he said, he could bring some energy and experience to the young team..
