Recently, Apple withdrew its Advanced Data Protection feature for users in the UK. As per news reports, Apple retracted the feature following repeated demands by the UK government which sought to gain access to Apple users’ encrypted data. The government also reportedly sent a technical capability notice to Apple under the Investigatory Powers Act, a framework allowing law enforcement agencies to obtain communications and metadata from companies for investigatory purposes.
