Victoria de los Ángeles Foundation & Juilliard School Join Forces to Celebrate & Promote Spanish & Catalan Song

The Victoria de los Ángeles Foundation and The Juilliard School concluded the second edition of Victoria de los Ángeles Legacy on April 11, 2025.The event included a series of masterclasses dedicated to preserving and promoting the art of Catalan and Spanish song. The initiative, which arose in the framework of the commemoration of the centenary of Victoria de los Ángeles, was inaugurated last fall to coincide with the legendary Catalan soprano’s birthday.

Mezzo-soprano Nancy Fabiola Herrera, a member of the Victoria de los Ángeles Foundation’s Artistic Committee, led masterclasses between April 7 and 11 at Juilliard. Repertoire included works by notable Spanish composers such as Enrique Granados, Manuel de Falla, Eduard Toldrà, Frederic Mompou, and Xavier Montsalvatge.Closing out the celebration was a session open to all students consisting of a recital by the participants, followed by an informative conference on Victoria de los Ángeles.
