A York-based veterinary group collected a grand total of 27 bags of rubbish during a litter pick recently. The litter pick was organised by colleagues working in VetPartners’ central support team at Spitfire House in Clifton Moor, as part of Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British Spring Clean, to raise awareness of the environmental harm caused by litter. Sustainability coordinator at VetPartners, Chessie Bell, said: "We enjoy doing litter picks every year as they’re a way we can give back to our local community where our headquarters is based.

"Whilst I hope that we aren’t large contributors to the litter problem, we are happy to take some action to benefit others around us. "Litter picking is an action we can take that has an immediate positive effect for people, animals, and the planet." Volunteers collected 14 bags of recycling and 13 bags of general waste during the litter pick, which took place on April 3.
