Veterans Day 2024: Celebrations, meals planned in Catawba, Burke, Iredell counties

Have your military ID or prove of service ready on Monday to eat free at several restaurants in the Catawba County region.

Veterans Day is being celebrated across the region, with some cookouts, parades and discounts on meals. Here is a list of some of the Veterans Day events and special offers for Catawba, Burke, Iredell, and Alexander counties. Please note the list is not exhaustive.

The Hiddenite Arts and Heritage Center is hosting a Veterans Breakfast on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.



m. Breakfast is free to veterans and their families. The event will be at the Hiddenite Arts and Heritage Center Educational Complex at 70 Hiddenite Church Road.

Blue Ridge Harley-Davidson in Hickory will have a Veterans Day celebration on Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. The event will include a flag ceremony and a free meal.

Blue Ridge Harley-Davidson is located at 2002 13h Ave. Drive SE in Hickory. The town of Catawba will have two events for Veterans Day.

The first event will be on Saturday. Catawba will have a festival and parade. The festival begins at 10 a.

m. The parade will start at 2 p.m.

The festival and parade will be held in downtown Catawba. The second event is a memorial service at the Catawba Veterans Garden of Honor at 4 p.m.

Monday. The garden is located at 102 First St. NW in the town of Catawba.

True North Realty in Hickory is hosting a veterans appreciation event on Monday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.

m. The event will include cupcakes and gifts. True north Realty is located at 1 North Center St.

, Suite 240. The town of Mooresville is hosting a Veterans Day Parade along Main Street at 1 p.m.

on Monday. To participate in the parade, register at mooresvillenc.gov/veteransday .

Main Street will be closed to traffic before and during the parade. The Disabled American Veterans organization in Morganton is having a breakfast event from 7 a.m.

to 10 a.m. on Monday.

The Morganton DAV is located at 2779 DAV Ave. in Morganton. Burke County is hosting its Veterans Day Program on Monday at 11 a.

m. The event will pay tribute to the men and women who have served in the United States military. The event will be held at First United Methodist Church located at 201 N.

King St. in Morganton. Cosmo Motors is having a free cookout on Monday from noon to 2 p.

m. for all active-duty or retired military, police officers, firefighters and first responders. The meal will include barbecue, macaroni and cheese, beans, slaw, cookies and drinks.

Cosmo Motors is located at 545 12th Street Drive NW in Hickory. Veterans and active military personnel get meal vouchers from Texas Roadhouse for Veterans Day. Texas Roadhouse is giving out free meal vouchers to veterans.

Vouchers will be available for all retired veterans, active-duty personnel and anyone who served in the National Guard or Army Reserves. Anyone wanting a voucher must show their military ID card, Veterans Affairs card or discharge papers. Those wanting to use a voucher can either dine in at the Hickory Texas Roadhouse between 11 a.

m. and 2 p.m.

on Monday or get a coupon that is valid until May 30. Dunkin’ will serve veterans and active-duty military a free donut on Monday. There are Dunkin locations in Hickory, Conover, Long View, Morganton, Lenoir, Statesville and Mooresville.

Sheetz is giving a free meal and a free car wash to veterans and active-duty military personnel on Monday. The free meal is a half turkey sub, including extras and add-ons, and a regular size fountain drink. This offer can be received at any Sheetz store with proof of military service.

Any Sheetz store with a car wash is offering a free wash. The car wash offer is only for the $9 value option. There are Sheetz locations in Hickory, Morganton and Granite Falls.

Chili’s is giving out free dine-in-only meals on Monday. Veterans and active-duty military will have their choice between a burger, quesadilla and chicken tenders with proof of service. There are Chili’s locations in Hickory, Morganton and Statesville.

Bob Evans in Hickory will be giving veterans and active-duty military a free dine-in-only meal on Monday. Bob Evans will have a special menu for veterans to choose from featuring seven breakfast staples. Applebee’s is serving veterans and active-duty military personnel with a free dine-in-only meal on Monday.

There are Applebee’s locations in Hickory, Mooresville, Morganton and Statesville. Golden Corral will serve veterans and active-duty military personnel a free dinner on Monday from 4 p.m.

to closing time. There are Golden Corral locations in Hickory and Mooresville. Cracker Barrel will serve a free slice of Double Chocolate Fudge Coca-Cola Cake to veterans and active-duty military personnel who dine in on Monday.

Cracker Barrel will also donate $10 gift cards to Operation Homefront for each Country Fried Turkey Family Meal Basket sold during the month of November.
