Hundreds of drivers will take to Brighton seafront next weekend as part of the annual veteran car run. Vehicles dating back as far as the 19th century will set off from London’s Hyde Park as the sun rises and head to Brighton’s Madeira Drive. The car run, now nearly 100 years old, will celebrate some of the automotive giants of years gone by.
This year the event will also celebrate pioneering women in the automobile industry by marking the anniversary of the Ladies’ Automobile Club. Drivers complete the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run in Madeira Drive (Image: Simon Dack) Duncan Wiltshire, chairman of the Royal Automobile Club, said: “The magical RM Sotheby’s London to Brighton Veteran Car Run is a truly great British tradition. “Now in its 128th year, it is an extraordinary showcase, celebrating the introduction of motorised transport, and the pleasures and freedoms that the new technology introduced.
“This year marks 120 years of the Ladies’ Automobile Club as well as the 125th anniversaries of both Fiat and Renault, two of the world’s most famous car marques. We are delighted to be honouring these significant milestones in 2024.” Cars will set off from London at around 7am and wind their way through Crawley, Cuckfield and other parts of Sussex before finishing at Brighton’s Madeira Drive.
Cars will arrive in Brighton at around 10am on Sunday, November 3..
