Dubai: Suleiman Eid, a veteran Egyptian actor known for his distinctive comic presence in film, television, and theatre, died Friday morning at the age of 64 after suffering a sudden health crisis, his family announced. Eid was rushed to the hospital after a medical emergency but passed away shortly afterward, according to a statement by his son, Abed Suleiman, on social media. Funeral prayers were held following the Friday prayer at the Islamic Complex in Sheikh Zayed.
Born on October 17, 1961, Eid launched his acting career in the late 1980s, but his breakout role came in 1992 with the political satire Terrorism and Kebab, starring iconic actor Adel Imam. The performance opened doors to a long and prolific career in Egyptian cinema and television. Over the years, Eid appeared in more than 150 productions across film, TV dramas, and stage plays.
His notable works include Birds of Darkness, Sleep in Honey, and Hammam in Amsterdam.
