STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Numerous stories have been written in the Staten Island Advance about the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge and its impact on this island, both positive and negative.

When the bridge opened in 1964, the toll was fifty cents. Today, it costs $6.94 with an E-ZPass (NYCSC) or $11.
