Times News Network Ludhiana: Various projects worth around Rs 1.88 crore were inaugurated by MLA Ashok Prashar on Sunday. These included construction of the first street vending zone , redevelopment of central verges and parks across central constituency.
The first street vending zone will be established near the Children’s Park (old ward number 54 and new ward number 78) located behind the civil hospital at a cost of around Rs 47 lakh. Establishment of vending zones has been hanging fire for more than a decade. Despite notifying sites for vending zones, officials have failed to start work on the ground.
Later, work on redevelopment of central verges from Cheema Chowk to Suffian Chowk (old ward number 20 and new ward number 30), Janakpuri (old ward number 53 and new ward number 80) and adjoining areas, was inaugurated. The work will be done at a cost of around Rs 92 lakh. Work on renovation of Trikona park, Pardhan park and Guru Teg Bahadur park in ward number 51 at a cost of around Rs 49 lakh was also inaugurated.
During the formal inauguration, MLA Ashok Prashar said that establishment of the street vending zone would not only benefit street vendors, but also help streamline traffic movement.
