Vehari DC reviews pace of work on development projects

Vehari - Deputy Commissioner Imrana Tauqeer on Wednesday inspected major development projects and educational institutions, besides supervising the district-level wheat yield competition draw. She reviewed pace of work on different development projects during her detailed field visit. She emphasised timely execution, quality, and transparency in all initiatives, especially the ongoing construction of the Vehari-Multan Road.

The DC inspected the ongoing construction of the 49.60 km Additional Carriageway on Vehari-Multan Road at Tibba Sultan Pur, Thingi, and Barakha Morr. EXEN Highways Umair Latif briefed her on the project’s progress.



The Rs7.84 billion project is being executed under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The DC stressed the importance of completing the project within the stipulated timeline while ensuring strict quality control and transparency.

She also visited the under-construction Road Research and Material Testing Laboratory at Tibba Sultan Pur and appreciated the efforts of the Highways Department. Shots Fired The lab is expected to improve construction quality across the district by providing easy access to material testing. Additionally, DC Imrana visited Maryam Nawaz Sharif Health Center in Tibba Sultan Pur and the Rural Health Center in Garha Morr to review ongoing renovation and revamping works.

She appreciated the efforts of EXEN Buildings Nazar Bukhari and emphasized the importance of delivering high-quality healthcare facilities to the public. In the education sector, the DC visited Government Girls High School 65/WB where she inspected classrooms, labs, sanitation, plantation, and the overall learning environment. She enrolled new students under the ongoing admission campaign and distributed books and school bags.

Commending the efforts of students and staff, she distributed awards to top performers and encouraged a young girl aspiring to become a pilot. She also visited the school mosque, kitchen garden, Miyawaki forest, and reviewed arrangements at the matric exam center.Later at the DC Office, in line with directives from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, DC Imrana Tauqeer conducted the wheat yield competition draw.

Out of 171 applications—39 from Vehari, 72 from Burewala, and 60 from Mailsi—ten top farmers were selected after scrutiny (4 from Vehari, 3 each from Burewala and Mailsi). Harvesting will take place from April 10 to May 15, 2025.District-level winners will receive cash prizes of Rs.

1 million, Rs. 800,000, and Rs. 500,000, while provincial-level winners will be awarded tractors of 85, 75, and 60 horsepower.

The entire process will be conducted with full transparency.The DC also visited the Government Special Education Centre of Excellence Vehari, where she assessed classroom facilities and directed the staff to ensure high-quality education and care for special children. Heatwave Incoming District focal person and Principal Zakia Tariq was present during the visit.
