VB Improves To 4-0 With Victory Over Temple

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Carolina volleyball team (4-0) edged out a four-set victory over Temple (25-22, 28-26, 20-25, 25-21) on Saturday afternoon in the Carolina Volleyball Center in their first road win of the year.

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Carolina volleyball team (4-0) edged out a four-set victory over Temple (25-22, 28-26, 20-25, 25-21) on Saturday afternoon in the Carolina Volleyball Center in their first road win of the year.

It was a balanced offense attack in the victory, with four Tar Heels tallying double-digit kills: Mabrey Shaffmaster (13), Chelsea Thorpe (12), Safi Hampton (11) and Emani' Foster (10). The Tar Heels tallied eight blocks as a team, led by five blocks assist from Alexis Engelbrecht , but lost the statistical battle at the net with the Owls racking up 17 blocks. At the service line, Shaffmaster racked up a match-best four aces.



The Tar Heel senior outside has nine aces in the last two matches combined, bringing her season total to 11 just four matches in. Freshman Julia Bohlinger had a breakout performance in her young career, tallying a career-best 11 digs, second-most on the team, to go with a career-best three aces. Setters Zoe Behrendt and Taylor Eisert combined for 43 of the team's 53 assists.

Carolina has won 10 of its first 11 sets in 2024, dropping its first set of the season to the Owls. The Tar Heels will cap off their first road weekend on Sunday with 2 p.m.
