VB arrests man for helping PO with financial embezzlement

Times News Network Ludhiana: Punjab Vigilance Bureau nabbed Anurag Batra , distributer of Batra Pharmaceuticals and alleged accomplice of Rakesh Kumar Singla , former deputy director, food and civil supplies department. Batra allegedly helped Singla, a proclaimed offender , with money laundering activities. A local court remanded him in one-day police custody on Thursday.

An official spokesman of VB said that Singla’s role came to light during investigation of the case registered against Bharat Bhushan Ashu, former food and civil supplies minister and others. Singla was found to have purchased 12 properties from unknown sources in his and his wife’s name. He was later declared proclaimed offender (PO).



A case of disproportionate assets was registered against him and his wife Rachna Singla at VB police station, Ludhiana range. During investigation, it was found that Singla had taken bribe during his posting in the food and civil supplies department. He also purchased many properties in his wife Rachna’s name.
