Vancouver, Canada - The Overseas Election Management Committee of the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Vancouver was officially launched on April 16 in preparation for the 21st presidential election of the Republic of Korea, scheduled for June 3, 2025. Led by Chairman Hak-yu Kim, the committee began its official duties at its first meeting. The Overseas Election Management Committee is an organization established in accordance with the Public Official Election Act, responsible for managing overseas elections within the jurisdiction of the Consulate General of Vancouver in Canada.

Its primary duties include operating overseas polling stations, managing voting, and supervising election management tasks carried out by overseas election management officers. The committee will operate until July 3, 2025, which is 30 days after the election date. Jongho Kyun, Consul General of Vancouver, who serves as the overseas voting administrator, convened and chaired the first meeting of the committee.



In his opening remarks, he emphasized the importance of conducting the 21st presidential election fairly. The Vancouver Consulate General Overseas Election Management Committee emphasized that, unlike domestic elections, overseas voters must register in advance as overseas absentee voters or overseas voters in order to vote.
