The Vancouver Canucks have shared details for annual Diwali Night celebrations, which is set for tomorrow night, October 28th. Tomorrow, the Vancouver Canucks will host the Carolina Hurricanes for the second game of their three-game homestand and it's going to be night full of celebration at Rogers Arena. In an article on their official website on Sunday afternoon, the Vancouver Canucks shared some big details for tomorrow's eighth-annual Diwali Night celebration.
Throughout the night, fans in attendance at Rogers Arena will be treated to music, food of the South Asian community. Outside Rogers Arena before puck drop, there will be Bollywood Dancers, Dhol drummers, and Chai tea. Meanwhile, for those who are lucky enough to step inside the arena tomorrow night, on the concourse there will be DJs from Club Mumbai, located in downtown Vancouver on Granville Street.
Then during the first intermission, stay in your seats as Canadian-Indian artist Sarbjit Cheema will be giving a live performance. On the 100 Level concourse, there's set to be a Diwali market featuring four local vendors - Guru Nanak Free Kitchen, DUDH SODA, Just Cakes Bakeshop and Nirvana Restaurant. For those who aren't familiar with Diwali, it's one of the biggest festivals of the year in India and for Hindus, Sikhs, Jains and Buddhists around the globe.
It's typically held in the fall in late October/early November and lasts for five days, with the third day being the main celebration. The Festival of Lights is what Diwali is know as. It marks the triumph of light over darkness and of good over evil.
