Val Kilmer's tragic final post revealed as Batman actor dies aged 65

Top Gun actor Val Kilmer, who overcame a throat cancer diagnosis, has sadly died at the age of 65 after suffering from pneumonia his heartbroken daughter has revealed

Val Kilmer shared one final video of himself on Instagram just weeks before his tragic death . The Batman and Top Gun star sadly died on Tuesday aged 65 after suffering from pneumonia. Less than two months before his death, Val took to social media to share a clip of himself sitting in a padded room with artist David Choe.

The video was originally filmed in 2021 and showed Val trying on a Batman mask which was made for him by David. He joked, "It's been a while," before donning the mask and reliving his time as the masked superhero . After putting the mask on, Val looked straight into the camera as David said, "You look great.



" Val then turned the camera to show a Batman painting. Alongside the video, Val shared other pictures of David's Batman artwork as well as a video of him talking about his love for the character. The post has since had more than 30,000 likes.

Val often shared pictures of his own artwork on Instagram. Just a week before he died, the actor posted a blue and pink painting with the caption, "It’s got that late-night glow. Cool tones with a low burn, like when the camp fire cools down but you’re still wide awake.

" Val's daughter Mercedes Kilmer confirmed his death in a statement to the New York Times . She revealed he died at his home in Los Angeles and shared he had been diagnosed with throat cancer in 2014 but later recovered. The actor underwent both radiotherapy and chemotherapy for his cancer.

He also underwent a tracheostomy procedure to create an artificial hole in this neck to help him breathe. Tributes have been pouring in for the actor, with his friend Josh Brolin sharing a throwback snap of them together. The No Country For Old Men star wrote, "See ya, pal.

I'm going to miss you." He continued, "You were a smart, challenging, brave, uber-creative firecracker. There's not a lot left of those.

I hope to see you up there in the heavens when I eventually get there. Until then, amazing memories, lovely thoughts." Actor Josh Gad posted on Instagram, "RIP Val Kilmer.

Thank you for defining so many of the movies of my childhood. You truly were an icon." Val enjoyed a lengthy career and was known for his role as Iceman in 1986's Top Gun.

He also played Batman in the 1995 film Batman Forever. Val stepped away from the spotlight after his throat cancer diagnosis left him unable to speak. However, he returned to the screen in 2022 for Top Gun: Maverick.
