VACAVILLE — A community meeting to discuss proposed sewer and water rate increases will begin at 2 p.m. Monday.

A proposal to raise water rates for single-family dwellings, from $127.50 to $151.62 bi-monthly, moved forward at a March City Council meeting.

The proposed rates would go into effect in July. Individual bill impacts will vary based on customer type, water meter size and amount of water used, the city said. There is an online “bill estimator" and more details about the proposed rates, at www.

cityofvacaville.gov/government/utilities/fees-and-rates/water-and-sewer-rate-studies . Updates to the rates are necessary to fund investments in infrastructure improvements, maintenance and additions which are necessary or mandated for safe and efficient operations, the city said.

In the past two fiscal years, the water and sewer funds have operated in a deficit spending position, the city said. Monday's meeting is at the McBride Community Center, 91 Town Square Place. It should last about an hour.
