UST closes in on juniors volley title

UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas (UST) moved closer to the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 87 boys volleyball title after an 18-25, 25-21, 28-26, 25-19 win over defending champion National University on Wednesday at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion in Manila. John Paul Bautista had 17 points, including 16 kills, for UST. Paolo Medino contributed 16 points, 15 from attacks, in the two-hours and three-minute match.

Yuan Mendoza led the Bullpups with 18 points, including 15 from attacks. Matthew Abut and Miguel Egger had 15 points each. The second match of the best-of-three series is set at 9 a.



m. on Saturday. In the girls’ final, NU beat Adamson University, 25-16, 25-21, 25-13, in the opener of the title series.
