There has been a lot of talk about the future of touring recently after many struggled to get tickets to some of their favorite artists, but thankfully Usher has offered up his words of wisdom to those missing out – as well as an entire film for fans who didn’t manage to make it to his own gigs. The Yeah! singer is set to release the Rendezvous in Paris movie in cinemas this week, showcasing his incredible 2023 residency in the City of Lights, which happens to coincide with some of the US dates for his current Past Present Future tour . As the 45-year-old returns to the stage to celebrate his incredible career after a seamless ticket roll-out, the same cannot be said for other artists about to hit the road after Oasis fans were left devastated when they were unable to secure passes to the band’s huge reunion next year.

Last weekend, many reported being stuck in long online queues or encountering website errors, with some even kicked out of the line without notice – the lucky few that did get through were shocked to find that prices had skyrocketed due to Ticketmaster’s dynamic pricing policy. After Prime Minister Sier Keir Starmer promised to investigate the price issue , Usher has stepped in with his own solution for future ticket plans. Ahead of the release of his upcoming Rendezvous in Paris film release, the legendary performer sat down with Metro.

co.uk to discuss all things music and the future of touring, sharing his thoughts on where we can go from here. While preparing for a selection of sold-out shows in New York, he was asked for his thoughts on where the industry can improve when faced with the high demand for tickets, and said: ‘Well, from my perspective, it’s been very healthy.

‘Comparative pricing and the way that works, I can’t speak to – but I can say that those who get there early reap the benefit of being able to resell those tickets, or either to have tickets. ‘So I always tell [fans], the moment that you hear about a concert, you’ve got to get your ticket early. Don’t wait till the last minute.

’ Usher has also been generous enough to bless us with an entire movie lifting the lid on his 2023 Paris residency, giving those of us who weren’t lucky enough to secure tickets a front row seat to all of the action. Anyone who was in the crowd will definitely want to relive the magic all over again without going through all their shaky phone footage – with some slick, sensual visuals thrown in just for fun, so it’s truly a win-win for all involved. But if you want to see how the Confessions singer made the French capital his home for a spectacular run of dates, you may need to act fast as Rendezvous in Paris is only in cinemas for a handful of days in total, with showings between September 12-15.

Despite being a staple of the spotlight with a career spanning 30 years, he insisted that the shows were wildly different to his headline-making Las Vegas residency , and empowered him to tap into a completely different side of himself on stage. ‘After the success of the Paris residency that many people didn’t get a chance to see ..

. [it’s] a great opportunity to be able to make certain that everybody who wanted to see it got a chance to see why everybody celebrated those eight shows,’ he continued. ‘What I can say about this Paris residency Rendezvous is it was uniquely different than any of the residency shows that I put on in Las Vegas, and it allowed me to elevate.

‘It allowed me to elevate the fashion, it allowed me to elevate the lighting, and the technical side of it. It allowed me to introduce myself in a different way that my audience hadn’t seen me in a long time, it allowed me to read the international spark, and who I am as a performer.’ In the past few years, the Burn musician has enjoyed residency slots around the world, performed at the coveted Super Bowl Halftime Show , fronted his very own Skims campaign, embarked on a world tour, launched a new album, while also being a dedicated father to his children and tying the knot with Jenn Goicoechea .

That is more than most other performers to do in a lifetime but Usher is showing absolutely no signs of slowing himself down any time soon. In fact, when Metro.co.

uk suggested that he could land a headlining spot at Glastonbury somewhere down the line, he beamed at the thought, meaning that someone needs to get Emily Eavis on the phone ASAP. Better yet, maybe I could bring Lovers and Friends over there? That could be major too, right?’ ‘In the same way that I’ve managed to make a lot of noise with my live performances recently, what I would hope is that the entire world gets a chance to experience that feeling September 12 – 15,’ he added. ‘There’s a very specific amount of time to be able to have done something that no one else has done, and it is a matter of physically going into a theater.

That would be my hope. To me, that would be a wish. That’s a goal.
