A well-known used car dealer has shared how he was able to buy an attractive, powerful, and surprisingly economical sportscar for just £2,000. Matt Goodwin is a car dealer who runs the High Peak Autos YouTube channel, regularly fronting videos in which he purchases a wide range of models for his forecourt and offers tips to help viewers buy a reliable vehicle. In his latest video , Matt buys a 2008 Audi TT Quattro , stating that it still drives surprisingly well for an older model with 150,000 miles on the clock.

He explained: "Here we go, then, welcome to my new-to-me 2008 Audi TT Diesel Quattro. I'm quite impressed with it so far, you know, it drives really well , although I hope that isn't an omen. "It's done 150,000 miles, but you wouldn't actually know that.

It pulls really well, it doesn't smoke on acceleration, so that's good. It is a little bit dirty, and there is a slight wheel bearing noise, a bit of a hum, from the offside, but apart from that, we've got a nice little car." Whilst the TT has been a part of the Audi range since 1998, the second-generation model featured in Matt's video was produced from 2006 to 2014 and features slightly sharper styling and many body panels made from aluminium.

Based on the same platform as the fifth-generation Volkswagen Golf, this version of the Audi TT offered a wide range of engines, including the particularly practical, if not ULEZ-compliant, 2.0-litre TDI diesel. With this engine under the bonnet, the Audi TT can reach a top speed of 140mph whilst returning a very impressive 55mpg.

Taking a look around the car for the first time since he bought it, Matt noted that his example still looked very attractive, and featured a good sign that the car had been cared for. He added: "I'll be honest, I've done loads of videos on this channel with the TT. I just think they're really good cars, bearing in mind this is an old design.

This first came out in about 2006, but look at it, I think it still looks really contemporary. It's really stylish. "At the front end we've got fog lights, xenon headlights and the headlamp wash.

The bonnet isn't too chippy considering it's done 150,000 miles, even the plates look alright. We've got proper tyres too, that's a Pirelli and around the back we've got Bridgestones." Due to the TT's popularity, there are plenty of second-generation examples on the market with used car buyers able to get behind the wheel of a higher-mileage model for about £2,000.

Nevertheless, those looking for a slightly better-kept example that has covered fewer miles will comfortably be able to find the right model for them with a budget of £5,000 to £6,000. In all cases, however, drivers should pay close attention for signs of wear on high-performance models like the RS, particularly checking how the brakes feel, and listen out for knocks coming from the steering rack..
