Urgent alert as Penneys recall popular products over ‘choking’ fears as customers warned ‘discontinue use immediately’

AN URGENT warning has been issued for Irish shoppers after two popular products were recalled due to "choking" fears. Two plush bags sold at Penneys /Primark have been recalled. The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission issued the recalls for DTR Plush Bag Stitch and Plush Bag Angel after discovering the products come with a choking hazard.

The affected products come with a risk that the zip puller may become detached from the product, which can be a potential choking and ingestion hazard. The trademark is Primark. The Stitch bag type of model is 2056301 while the Angel bag type of model is 9270801.



Approximately 1,519 affected products are in the Republic of Ireland . It is unknown how many were sold in Northern Ireland. They said: "If you believe that you may have purchased an affected product, discontinue use immediately and keep it out of the reach of children.

" Parents are urged to keep the affected product out of the reach of the children to prevent the zip puller from becoming detached and creating a hazard. People who have purchased the affected products are urged to return them to any Penneys/Primark store, where they will be offered a full refund. Meanwhile, an urgent alert has been issued to Irish parents as a children's costume has been recalled over a "strangulation risk" . The affected Iron Man costume was sold on the AliExpress platform. The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) issued the recall due to safety concerns .

The costume poses a major strangulation risk for children who wear it. Functional cords surrounding the neck area can tighten and strangle a child. The CCPC said: "The product presents a strangulation risk as the functional cords in the neck area could strangle a child wearing the garment.

" This product was sold online through the AliExpress platform. There is approximately 1 affected product in the Republic of Ireland. The Aliexpress product id is 1005006309348250.

The model is QW0129 – cn1079473327oidae – # Color: style 1. The bar code is 753599873201. The brand and batch number are unknown.

The CCPC said customers should stop using the product immediately and keep it out of reach from children. They also said to contact AliExpress to see if there are any remedies available to you. The CCPC added: "If you purchased one of these products, please stop use immediately and discard the product.
