Urban population increases rapid across country, data released

Highest population growth rate was recorded in Lower Kohistan at 9.05 percent

Lahore: The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics has released details of the population growth rate across the country, including Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan, from 2017 to 2023. According to the Bureau of Statistics, the urban population of Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan is increasing rapidly. The population growth rate in urban areas of Punjab has reached three times that of rural areas, while the urban population growth rate in Sindh and Balochistan is also increasing rapidly.

The data shows that the Nankana Sahib district of Punjab leads the population growth rate across the country. East Karachi district in Sindh, Kohistan district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Washik district in Balochistan have the fastest population growth rates. According to the Bureau of Statistics, Pakistan’s population has grown at an average annual rate of 2.
