SUBANG JAYA: The Selangor Housing and Property Board has offered over 100 units of houses in Kota Warisan, Sepang for the temporary accommodation of victims of the Petronas Putra Heights gas pipeline inferno.Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said if all goes well, the victims can move into the units in a week or two under the state's Smart Sewa programme, as well as that offered by Airbnb."I will be meeting with Petronas to discuss temporary accommodation today.

"I will announce more after I finalise the agreement and it will be highlighted in the next committee meeting."We want to reduce the burden of victims who are taking refuge at the temporary relief centres."As for Smart Sewa, we will try to fund it through contributions received and from the allocations from the federal government," he said.

Amirudin said he hoped victims would be moved out of the two temporary relief centres in the Putra Heights Mosque multi-purpose halls and Subang Jaya City Council's Dewan Camelia, as it was not feasible for victims to stay there for long. The victims could move into the units in Kota Warisan from next week onwards, he said."I want to settle matters related to rental commitments first, which will be for at least two to three months.

"We cannot promise these temporary accommodations will be located around the Putra Heights area because we do not have sufficient assets or reserves here."I understand there will be concerns about going back to school, but this is temporary."As for Airbnb, the accommodations may be scattered across a few locations.

I will verify this with Airbnb soon," he said.© New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd.
