Upcoming Rochester events to discuss dementia, Alzheimer's disease

ROCHESTER — Three upcoming presentations in Rochester will focus on memory loss conditions and how to manage them. On Thursday, Sept. 19, a University of Minnesota professor will hold two presentations about Alzheimer's disease.

The events, scheduled for 10-11:30 a.m. and 2:30-4 p.



m., will be held in the Sister Generose Auditorium in the Benedictine Living Community at Rochester Madonna Towers, 4001 19th Ave. NW.

Professor Joseph Gaugler, the Robert L. Kane Endowed Chair in Long-Term Care and Aging at the University of Minnesota, will cover what Alzheimer's is and what can be done to manage it. On Tuesday, Oct.

1, Mayo Clinic will hold a seminar, called "After the Diagnosis," about dementia diagnoses and living with the condition. It is scheduled for 12:30-4 p.m.

at the Mayo Clinic Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, 2022 41st St. NW. According to a news release, "participants will be able to ask questions of experts in the dementia and caregiving fields, build on their strengths and create connections with others" at the event.
