Longview residents will be able to share their ideas with local officials on ways to improve the city in a pair of Citizen Summit meetings scheduled for next month. The 2025 Citizen Summit will run in two two-hour sessions focused on building a shared vision for the future and a theme of “Focus on What’s Strong, Not What’s Wrong,” according to a news release and information on the city’s website. Sessions are scheduled for 6 p.
m. Wednesday, March 19 and 10 a.m.
Saturday, March 22, at the Woman’s Club building located at 835 21st Ave. in Longview. Longview’s last Citizen Summit was held in 2020, and according to the city the ideas shared will help Longview’s City Council set its goals, priorities and initiatives.
The Daily News archives show that Longview has held citizen summits since at least the late 2000s . “Whether you’ve lived here for decades or just moved in, your voice is a vital piece of the puzzle,” the city’s website states. “This is your chance to not only share ideas but to help turn them into action.
” The two sessions are designed to highlight Longview’s strengths and ways to develop them by exploring ideas such as “what assets already make Longview great”; “small, meaningful steps we can take to amplify those strengths” and “partnerships, ideas or actions [that] will help us create real progress.” The two sessions are identical, and the city states that the two dates are offered to allow more people to attend one of the sessions. Registration is not required, but for planning purposes the city asks those interested in attending to RSVP at bitl.
