In the latest incident, a leopard attacked a man working in the fields on Sunday. The news of the attack caused shock to the man’s father, who subsequently passed away from the trauma. Later that evening, a tiger preyed on another individual in Kartaniya Ghat.

Over the past 21 days, the forest department has captured six leopards. A farmer from Triloki Gaudi in the Sujoli range, Ratiram (45), was killed by a leopard. On Sunday evening, he went to a nearby sugarcane field to collect fodder for his livestock.

During this time, a leopard that had been lying in ambush attacked him, resulting in his death. The body of the deceased was found in the sugarcane field, leading to a state of panic among the local residents. Following the incident, the police station chief, Harish Singh, arrived at the scene with a team to control the situation.

Sanjay Kumar, the sub-divisional magistrate of Mihimpurva, also reached the site. After initial treatment, his condition was deemed serious, leading to his referral to the medical college in Bahraich. The local police chief of Murtiha, Amitendra Singh, and ranger Ratnesh Kumar also visited the health centre.
