Prayagraj: The state government has taken significant measures to improve health infrastructure and services in Sangam city in the past eight years. With the expansion and implementation of the health-related several schemes of the state as well as the Central governments, people are now getting better facilities for health care and treatment. Principal of Motilal Nehru (MLN) Medical College, Dr Vatsala Mishra, said, "A series of health care related projects and works were carried out in the past eight years.
" She added, "A 160-bedded PMSSY Super Specialty Block was constructed inside the Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital campus at a cost of Rs 160 crore, and this is proving helpful for patients coming from Prayagraj and neighbouring districts. Besides, a 250-bedded capacity advanced children's hospital building is ready in the campus itself at a cost of Rs 25 crore, which is likely to be operational by Aug." With the budget of Rs 75 crore received from the budget of Maha Kumbh, new construction and new equipment were purchased in the medical college, enhancing the quality and quantity in health services.
Dr Mishra said, "New OPD has been constructed in Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital from the same budget. With the construction of Central Diagnostic Center on the campus at a cost of Rs 9 crore, all the tests are being conducted at one place." Moreover, the Rs 36 crore project for construction of L1 Trauma Center was passed.
From this budget, the college purchased new equipment for treatment and investigation at a cost of Rs 16 crore. Besides, a Green Corridor was also constructed at a cost of Rs 7 crore, so that patients can be shifted from one block to another while protecting them from rain and sun. With the expansion of these services, between 3,000 to 4,000 OPDs are being done in the college every day.
The treatment and testing facilities reached the common man in urban and rural areas. Chief medical officer (Prayagraj) Dr AK Tiwari said that three CHCs were constructed in Sangam City in the past eight years. A hundred-bed hospital was built in Bhagwatpur.
Besides, a total of 551 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs are being operated in the district, through which a wide range of primary health services are being made available to the patients. These Arogya Mandirs are also proving helpful in tele-medicine, and through these, people living in remote areas are also getting the facility of consultation from specialist doctors. Similarly, 12 Health ATMs are being set up across the district and facilities of various tests are available for the patient at one place.
During the same period, three wings of MCH were also built, which include 100 beds in Dufferin Hospital, MCH with a capacity of 30-30 in Phulpur, Ram Nagar, and Manda. Under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, golden cards of 13,64,416 beneficiaries were made in the district so far..
