Before the days of pre-made supermarket meal deals, or when less options were available on the shelves, food was made to go a long way.

And families in Merseyside and beyond often got creative with different condiments and items already in the cupboard. For some in retrospect, there's certain tastes or texture we'd rather not remember. ‌ But for others, there are classic fillings still enjoyed today, even as adults.



And whilst these unusual butties may seem wholly unusual or an acquired taste for children of today, they were a staple part of growing up in Liverpool and beyond in years gone by, the ECHO previously reported.
