
The GNR county health department conducted inspections at several restaurants in the Metro Atlanta region on March 12. The inspectors found one restaurant to be at unsatisfactory levels of compliance with the food code. Lao Wei Dao at 3875 Venture Dr, Suite A-7, inside the Jusgo Supermarket in Duluth failed the inspection after it scored 49 points, leading to it being graded with a “U”.
The restaurant was able to score a perfect 100 in the last inspection that was conducted in December 2024. The report goes on to state that Multiple foodborne illness risk factors were not in compliance.Inspectors saw that there were several travel cups that were stored on the prep tables. Employee’s cigarettes were seen on the prep table above the food.
In the case of food and utensil storage, multiple violations were reported as well. Inside the walk-in cooler, inspectors saw various meat items stored with potential cross contamination. Several cooked and cut foods were seen uncovered as well.
Ready-to-eat time/temperature control for safety foods that were prepared more than 24 hours were seen without date labels. There were also food items that had been unpacked from the original pack that did not have labels with the common name. There was also food debris on surfaces that came in contact with the food and the utensils that were marked clean.
Employees were also seen rinsing the dishes but not sanitizing them. The shelves of the walk-in-cooler were seen with accumulated food debris.The temperatures for reheating food were also seen to be not in accordance with the provisions.
Beef and chicken in the front cooler were not cooling at a quick enough cooling rate, the report also mentioned.The facility also had several dead roaches at various places. There were also live roaches that were seen.
Lao Wei Dao Faces Follow-up Inspection in 10 DaysMany of the violations that were noted in the inspection report were resolved on site, as the inspection was ongoing. However, the remaining issues will have to be addressed with the next 10 days, before the follow-up inspection. If the restaurant fails to address these issues, if it scores unsatisfactorily or have repeat violations, the permit may be suspended.
Health inspectors will visit Lao Wei Dao in another 10 days for a follow-up inspection. It must score a minimum of 80 points in the inspection for it to be able to retain its permit. There will also be a required additional routine inspection that will happen within the next 12 months.

There were 21 restaurants that scored between 90 and 99 and 8 scored between 80 and 80.
