
2 April 2025 The University of Limerick is set to host the Transforming Higher Education conference on 10 April bringing together industry leaders, academics, and policymakers to discuss the future of workplace-based education. The one-day event will focus on the transformative impact of the University of Limerick’s UL@Work initiative and explore best practices for aligning higher education with the ever-evolving demands of the workforce. With a focus on innovation, adaptability, and lifelong learning, the conference will be a key platform for shaping the future of education and workforce readiness.
Ann Ledwith, Interim Provost at the University of Limerick, and Sinéad Brady, founder of The Career Psychologist, will lead discussions on how universities and employers can better collaborate to develop the next generation of workers with the skills needed to thrive in a rapidly changing job market. Sinéad will also discuss career pivots and aligning professional decisions with personal values. The conference will also feature an exclusive session reviewing the results of UL@Work, with insights on how the initiative has helped bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world workplace challenges.
Other highlights include a panel discussion on the future of workplace-based education, featuring Martin Hayes, Professor & Academic Lead of UL@Work, and Dr Sinéad Burke, manager of the initiative. Prof Hayes said: “As a hub for transformative education, UL is committed to ensuring that academic programmes align with the rapidly changing needs of the workforce.
