After starting their season 1-6, the New England Patriots probably won't be making the playoffs or a run to the Super Bowl in 2024. However, they could use some of their current pieces to set them up for a brighter future. With the NFL trade deadline just over a week away, rumors are swirling about players who could move, including Patriots linebacker Joshua Uche.

According to NFL Network , Uche's name is "floating around the trade market." He's making just $1.3 million this year after surprisingly re-signing on a one-year deal this past offseason.

The 26-year-old has proven to be a valuable edge rusher in the past, recording 11.5 sacks in 2022. This year, he has two sacks through the team's first seven games, but he's also playing just 35% of their defensive snaps.

Uche isn't exactly looking down at the idea of being traded either. "Ultimately, I am an employee of the Patriots and if they think it's in their best interest to trade me, I know they'll do so. If there is an opportunity for them to build for the future, I know they're going to do so," Uche said (via.

At this point, it is what it is." If Uche is going to hit the market again this offseason, he's probably going to be looking to sign with a team that will use him properly, so in a season that's already going nowhere, it may be smart to unload him for a draft pick.
