The Fiji Water Flying Fijians have finalised their lineup for the upcoming match against Spain in the Autumn Nations series, which includes the debut of Saimoni Uluinakauvadra, a former Fiji Warrior player. Head coach Mick Byrne has spoken highly of Uluinakauvadra, highlighting his physicality and fitness as a number seven player. “I think when we look at the game against Spain, they’re very physical team.
They’re going to come hard, looking at Saimoni he has been playing well as a number seven,” said Byrne. “He’s very physical over the ball, he’s very fit. And we’re just looking forward to seeing him debut and show us his talents, you know, as a product of the system over the years.
“And we’re really looking forward to him coming out and making his debut for flying Fijians.” Byrne emphasised the importance of a full squad to endure the series of four tests in a challenging northern atmosphere. “To play four tests in a row up here in northern atmosphere, you need your full squad, and we’re giving an opportunity to a couple of players that have been working very hard week in and week out now to get a game and show us what they’ve got and cement their places in this club moving forward.
” The starting lineup includes Eroni Mawi, Sam Matavesi, and Luke Tagi in the front row, with Mesake Vocevoce and Ratu Leone Rotuisolia as locks. Vilive Miramira, Saimoni Uluinakauvadra, and Albert Tuisue form a strong back row. Simi Kuruvoli and Caleb Muntz will be the halfback pairing, while Ponipate Loganimasi and Jiuta Wainiqolo will play on the wings.
Captain Waisea Nayacalevu and Sireli Maqala will lead the midfield, with Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula at fullback. On the bench, Mesulame Dolokoto, Haereiti Hetet, and Jone Koroiduadua provide front row cover. Temo Mayanavanua is the lock replacement, while Elia Canakaivata covers the back row, Peni Matawalu, Vilimoni Botitu, and Inia Tabuavou are the backline replacements.
