The latest forecasts reveal a potential surge in temperatures, with many areas expected to enjoy a period of hotter than average conditions later this month.. According to WXCharts, much of the UK could experience temperatures climbing into the mid to high teens in less than two weeks, with some areas climbing to 19C.

While the Met Office predicts that much of October will bring "widely unsettled conditions," they also hint at the possibility of brighter, more pleasant days ahead. The weather maps predict the south east and north east of England will experience the warmest temperatures. The warmer weather is expected to peak on Wednesday, October 16, according to the forecaster.

But James Madden from Exacta Weather offered a more bleak verdict, saying: “There are favourable options for it to turn rather unsettled and potentially cooler or much cooler at times from as early as the latter part of the upcoming weekend and early next week. "The best we can hope for here is some sort of delay in this process, as a now inevitable and quite prolonged period of expected autumnal and significantly cooler/colder weather also looks set to arrive on cue, particularly throughout next week." However, forecasts from NetWeather indicate that temperatures could peak at 19C in East Anglia on October 8, with only slight drops in surrounding regions like London, the Midlands, the south coast, and the South West.

Met Office five-day forecast Today: The majority of regions will see a predominantly overcast day, with sporadic light rain gradually becoming more intense, particularly from the southwest. The far east and northeast may enjoy some early brightness, while clearer skies could emerge in the southwest later. Tonight: Rainfall, heavy at times, will progress northwards during the evening, becoming stationary over northern Scotland overnight.

Other areas may benefit from some clear spells, although isolated showers will persist. Monday: Anticipate a mix of sun and intermittent showers, some of which may become locally heavy and potentially stormy. Persistent rainfall is expected to impact northern parts of Scotland, while breezy conditions will be felt in many regions.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday : The pattern of sunshine and showers will persist, with more continuous rain in northern regions. There's a slight possibility of wind and rain affecting the far south. By Thursday, rain will move southwards, making way for brighter but chillier weather.
