A United Kingdom based philanthropist, Hon. Opeyemi David Falegan has expressed shock over the large scale destructions of private and public properties in the last Saturday’s rainstorms which ravaged some part of Ekiti State. Falegan, founder of Opeyemi David Falegan Foundation in a statement lamented that the incident had caused caused significant damage to homes and businesses, leaving many residents in distress.
While empathizing with the victims, Falegan urged affected individuals to find solace in their resilience. Falegan called on the state government to look into the plight of the affected victims urging the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to assess the extent of damage and determine the scale of support required to ease their pains He emphasized the importance of immediate action to ensure those impacted receive necessary support and resources to rebuild their lives. Recall that a torrential downpour accompanied by strong storms damaged residential buildings, commercial structures, public institutions and electrical facilities.
Among the strictures affected was Fresh FM 106.5, a private Radio Station, House of a popular Radio Presenter, Alhaji Olumlade Agboola and some primary and secondary in and around Ado-Ekiti, gbe state capital. In his reaction, Governor Biodun Oyebanji described the scale of destruction as massive, monumental and worrisome to his government.
Oyebanji pledged government’s support for those who were enmeshed in the web of destruction of timely interventions to rebuild their damaged structures..
