Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (NP) Udupi, Oct 20: The 19th Udupi diocese level Konkani Singing Competition, organized by the ICYM Pangla unit and St John the Evangelist Church, Pangla, Shankerpura is scheduled for October 27, at 9 am in the Pangla Church Hall. This event has long been a platform to uncover the hidden musical talents within the Udupi diocese, fostering a community of passionate singers. With 18 years of history behind it, the competition continues to provide budding Konkani singers the opportunity to showcase their skills and leave a lasting impression on the music lovers of the region.
A much-anticipated event, the competition has been a longstanding tradition, providing a platform for young vocalists from across Udupi diocese to showcase their passion and talent for Konkani music. Now in its 19th year, this inter-parish competition has become a crucial part of the musical calendar, attracting participants eager to leave a lasting impression on music lovers. The competition will be held in two main categories namely, junior category and senior category.
The sub categories will be below 10 (solo – boys), below 10 (solo - girls), below 10 (group), 11-15 years (solo – boys), 11-15 years (solo – girls), 11-15 years (group), 15 and above (solo - men), 15 and above (solo - women), 15 and above (duet), 15 and above (group). A total of 30 prizes will be distributed and 3 places under each category. First prize will be awarded with Rs 6,666, second prize to be awarded with Rs 5,555 and the third prize will be awarded with Rs 4,444.
The competition will be judged based upon the quality of the voice, rhythm, clarity of words, general presentation and expressions..
