Pune: Union defence minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday said the Congress is in a precarious situation and any party allying with it would sink. "NCP (SCP) and Uddhav Thackeray 's parties will also drown with Congress," he said. He was campaigning for the Mahayuti candidates in Pune's Shivajinagar and Pune Cantonment assembly constituencies.
On Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray forming the MVA with Congress and the NCP (SCP), he said, "What must Balasaheb Thackeray be thinking about his son's decision? Nobody would have imagined that his party would align with Congress. Uddhav compromised Balasaheb's ideology only to be in govt," he said. Rajnath said the party will bounce back in the assembly election.
He added, "Despite below-par performance, our party got an absolute majority in Haryana assembly poll. Mahayuti will once again form govt in Maharashtra with a majority." On Congress's demand for a caste census, he said, "Census 2011 had all the details of castes and religions, but the data was never made public by govt.
Before demanding such a census, Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge ( Congress leaders) must have a blueprint on how they want to implement caste-based reservation and which castes will get it." He said that the Congress had made the maximum amendments to the Constitution when in power. "Congress is praising Babasaheb Ambedkar now but it did not respect him while in govt.
It did not take any steps to give him the Bharat Ratna. Our govt honoured Babasaheb with it," Rajnath said..
