The fun thing about historic sports programs is looking back throughout the years of success and seeing how players of today stack up with past legends. College basketball has evolved to the point where players aren't staying at the same school all four years anymore, with NIL and the transfer portal re-shaping the sport. Still, sometimes, a player hunkers down with the same program for their entire career.
When that player is one of the better ones in the league, they have a chance of inking their names in the record books. Paige Bueckers played four seasons with UConn over five years. She missed the entire 2022-2023 season due to injury but didn't let that stop her from being one of the best players to ever lace 'em up for the Huskies.
Bueckers is soon to be setting her sights on the WNBA, and when she does call it a career in Storrs, she will be one of the top-scoring players in UConn's illustrious history. The Huskies have cut down the nets 11 times and have seen incredible players come through the program. The all-time leading scorer for UConn is Maya Moore. She dominated, scoring 3,036 points from 2007 to 2011.
Moore scored at least 678 points in each of her four seasons with the Huskies. She ended her college career with 868 points in the 2010-2011 season, a performance which led to her being selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2010 WNBA Draft.
Moore was a four-time WNBA champion and one-time MVP during her seven-year career with the Lynx. She then played internationally for six seasons before retiring. Moore won two national championships at UConn.
