Uber discontinues Ride Pass in India, but here’s why riders need not worry

Uber India is ending its Ride Pass program on September 20, 2024. This subscription service allowed unlimited rides for a fixed monthly fee and avoided surge pricing. Existing passes remain valid until their expiration date. Uber plans to introduce new services soon to enhance the user experience.

Uber India has announced that it is discontinuing its Ride Pass program in India. For those unaware, Uber Ride Pass is a subscription service offered by Uber that provides users with unlimited rides for a fixed monthly fee. The pass enabled users to take as many rides as they needed within their subscription period.

The cost of the subscription is a flat fee, regardless of the distance or duration of your rides. Subscribers are not subject to surge pricing , even during peak hours or in high-demand areas. Uber India has started sending emails to users in India informing them about the end of the Ride Pass program in the country.



“Thank you for being a valued user of ‘Ride Pass’. We want to inform you that as of September 20, 2024, the ‘Ride Pass’ program will no longer be available for purchase. There will be no change to your existing ‘Ride Pass’, and you will continue to enjoy its benefits during its validity.

It’s been a pleasure having you as part of this membership, and we hope you’ve enjoyed the benefits during your time with us,” said the company in an email. The Uber Ride Pass service will end on September 20. However, users with existing Ride Pass will be able to continue using that till the validity date.

Uber has also said that the riders need not worry as the company is planning to bring another service soon. “While ‘Ride Pass’ is ending, stay tuned! We’re working on exciting new ways to enhance your Uber experience, and you’ll be hearing about them soon. Thank you for being a valued member of the Uber community,” added Uber.
