The first-place Eastman Selects (27-2-3) made quick work of the fourth-place Chiefs (17-14-1) in the best-of-five Manitoba Female Hockey League U18 AAA semifinals.



In Game 3 on Saturday evening at the Niverville Resource and Recreation Centre, Eastman’s Addison Tomes made 30 saves and Mya Grenier scored twice as the Selects swept the series with a 4-0 victory. Yellowhead’s Clair Merckx made 31 saves. In Game 2 on Friday at the Shoal Lake Communiplex, the Selects raced to a 3-0 lead, Jordyn Veitch, Kirby Gray and Emma Pollock tied it for the Chiefs but Delaney Rigaux scored the winner with 4:28 remaining in the third period for a 4-3 Eastman victory.

Yellowhead’s Merckx made 27 saves, with Eastman’s Isabelle Labossiere stopping 25 shots. In Game 1 on Wednesday at the Niverville Resource and Recreation Centre, Nicole Rozdeba scored the lone Chiefs goal as they fell 4-1. Danyel Heppner had a goal and an assist for the winners.

Merckx made 34 saves, with Tomes turning aside 20 shots. The third-place Ice (22-8-2) and second-place Avros (27-3-2) were tied after the first two games. In Game 1 on Tuesday at Seven Oaks Arena, Sophie Woznesensky scored the winning goal early in the third period as the Ice earned a 2-1 victory.

Ice goaltender Bailey Grunewald made 25 saves, with Avros netminder Adriana Almeida stopping 27 shots. In Game 2 on Friday at Hockey For All Centre, Rio Pierre had a goal and an assist as the Avros tied the series with a 4-1 victory. Gina Plett of the Ice made 37 saves, with Almeida stopping 29 shots.

Game 3 ended after deadline on Sunday at Seven Oaks Arena. Game 4 is at Hockey For All Centre on Wednesday at 7:15 p.m.

, and if needed, Game 5 is set for Seven Oaks Arena on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. The best-of-five semifinals are set to begin in the Manitoba U18 AAA Hockey League.

The first-place Wheat Kings (40-5-3) will meet their Westman rival, the fifth-place Southwest Cougars (26-16-6). Game 1 is set for J&G Homes Arena on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
