Two-day Eco-mela kicks off with painting competitions

Ludhiana: The two-day ‘ Eco-mela ’ organised by the Ludhiana municipal corporation (MC) commenced at Nehru Rose Garden on Saturday and painting competitions were also held on the first day of the mela. The mela has been organised under the ‘ Swachhta Hi Sewa ’ campaign. ‘Waste to Art’ stalls, a cultural event among other activities, would be organised for the visitors on the second day (Sunday) from 9am-5pm.

Prize distribution function for the painting competition held on Saturday, will take place on Sunday. Sekhon said the mela was organised on the directions of MC commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal and its aim was to encourage the residents to reduce, reuse and recycle the waste. Apart from a cultural event, stalls would also be established to display things made out of waste matter and home composting techniques on the second day of the mela.
