Two Limerick sides record important wins in basketball National League

TWO Limerick men's National League basketball sides recorded important home victories during the weekend with Limerick Celtics still maintaining their unbeaten run. Celtics over came Carrick Cruisers in their latest league fixture winning on a scoreline of 98-89. Yet again Ariyon Jamal Williams put up a huge personal tally of 34 points with Abdul Wurie scoring 23 for the side.

The team will now have a slight break in fixtures as they take on Titans BC next on November 17. It has been a fantastic start of the 24/25 season for the Celtics team who also got the better of Joels Dublin Lions in the first round of the knock-out stages of the President's National Cup two weekends ago. They will now move on to play recently beaten Crusiers in the next round of the cup on Saturday, December 7.



Limerick Sport Eagles also recorded a strong 109 to 82 win over Joels Dublin Lions in the National League over the weekend, with five of their players scoring ten points or more. Alexander Carlisle was top-scorer for the Eagles with 33 points, but Ignacio Folguerias, Sean Morrissey, Ajay Ryan-Walsh and David O'Connell all posted double figure scores to get them win. They will now face SETU Waterford Vikings on November 16.

Eagles also got through the first-round of the President's National Cup with a 94-87 win over Ulster University. Eagles will play Titans BC in the next round of the cup, also taking place on December 7. Both Limerick ladies teams have had a break in league fixtures with Celtics taking a trip to iSecure Swords Thunder and Huskies traveling to play Cleveland Rockets, with both games taking place this Saturday.
