KUALA LUMPUR: Two Johor princes took part in the opening race of the GT World Challenge Asia series today at the Petronas Sepang International Circuit, receiving strong royal support from their family.Tunku Panglima Johor Tunku Abdul Rahman Sultan Ibrahim and his younger brother Tunku Putera Johor Tunku Abu Bakar competed under the Johor Motorsports Racing (JMR) banner.According to a post on the official Facebook page of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, both His Majesty and Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, expressed their full moral support for their sons.
Raja Zarith Sofiah was present at the circuit to witness the race, accompanied by Tunku Temenggong Johor Tunku Idris Iskandar Al-Haj, Tunku Tun Aminah, and her husband, Datuk Dennis Muhammad Abdullah.Also in attendance was Raja Di-Hilir Perak, Raja Iskandar Dzulkarnain Sultan Idris.JMR made a strong start to the season, with Tunku Abdul Rahman and his British teammate Alexander Sims clinching third place in the Pro-Am category, securing the team's first podium finish of the season.
However, it was a challenging outing for Tunku Abu Bakar and Jordan Love, who were involved in a collision that damaged their car, causing them to fall behind for the remainder of the race.Although Sultan Ibrahim was not present at the venue, His Majesty followed the race closely from Johor Baru."I'm pleased with the promising start using the new Corvette.
"To Tunku Putera, keep pushing in the next race. I'm confident your performance will improve. Better luck next time," he said.
Meanwhile, Raja Zarith Sofiah expressed heartfelt gratitude to the fans who came out to support the team."I would like to thank all the fans, especially those who travelled from Johor Baru to Sepang."I'm deeply touched by their dedication and support.
