1 2 3 Pune: Hinjewadi police on Saturday arrested two men from Kalate Vasti in Wakad on the charge of bludgeoning a 40-year-old man to death following heated arguments over a petty issue on April 10. The victim, Rahul Ghewande of Bhumkar Vasti in Wakad, was undergoing treatment in a hospital, where he succumbed to the injuries on Saturday. Ghewande's wife lodged a complaint with the Hinjewadi police.
"We arrested Yash Kalate (22) and Maruti Gundekar (22), both of Kalate Vasti in Wakad, under section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)," an officer from the Hinjewadi police said. An officer reported that late on the night of April 10, Ghewande was walking home when he stopped near an open plot close to Bhumkar Chowk to relieve himself. At the same spot, Kalate and Gundekar were already doing the same.
"The two began verbally abusing Ghewande for relieving himself there. A heated argument broke out, after which the duo brutally assaulted him using their hands and feet," the officer said. He said that Ghewande fell unconscious in the attack and was admitted to a hospital.
He succumbed to the injuries during the treatment. "Our investigation is on," he said..
