Two brothers in court over alleged hurley attack in Limerick

They appeared before Limerick Circuit Criminal Court

Two brothers were today remanded on continuing bail for trial, accused of assaulting a man, and being armed with hurleys during the course of the alleged attack. Cian Hayes (33) and Daragh Hayes (37), both with an address at Ballyashea, Kildimo, Co Limerick, appeared before Limerick Circuit Criminal Court for trial, however it was adjourned to begin on Wednesday. The two accused siblings are each charged with assaulting a man, identified on charge sheets as Ciaran Ryan, causing Mr Ryan serious harm, at Ballyashea, Kildimo, on September 29, 2021, contrary to Section 4 of the Non Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997.

Prosecuting barrister, Lily Buckley, BL, said the case was a “priority” matter among a list of trials before the current sessions of the Limerick Circuit Criminal Court. The two accused men were present in court today and they did not address the court.
