Two Alberta Mounties have been charged with dangerous driving — more than five years after the alleged offence, the province’s police watchdog said Tuesday . On March 5, 2020, the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) was directed to investigate “possible dangerous driving” by on-duty Parkland County RCMP officers on Feb. 25, 2020.

ASIRT did not offer any details about how or where the officers were driving. ASIRT said evidence “provided reasonable grounds to believe that an offence had been committed,” and the investigation was forwarded to the Alberta Crown Prosecution Service to “determine whether the evidence met the standard for prosecution,” which it did. ASIRT executive director Michael Ewenson “determined that the involved officers should be charged.

” On April 7, 2025, Const. Debra-Ann Wash and Const. Dorian Tooze were charged with operating a conveyance in a manner that was dangerous to the public.

They were released and are scheduled to appear in Stony Plain court on May 21.
