Some local residents were also treated for injuries caused from the sudden supercell tornado. The Bay Area branch of the National Weather Services confirmed that the twisted seen in Scotts County was a tornado and the official time given by the agency was approximately 1:45 p.m.

It said that the Survey team of the NWS will further investigate the twister and provide it with a ranking. The city of San Francisco, given its location on the west coast, has been alien to tornadoes. However, on Saturday, the first-ever tornado warning in history for the city was issued by the NWS for San Mateo County and parts of downtown San Francisco.
