Tsuneishi launches 16th vessel this year

TSUNEISHI Heavy Industries (Cebu) Inc., the Philippines’ largest shipbuilder, has marked a milestone with the launch of its 16th vessel in 2024. In a statement from Aboitiz InfraCapital (AIC)-Economic Estates, Tsuneishi Cebu unveiled SC 455, a 63,300-ton bulk carrier built for a major Southeast Asian company.

Tsuneishi Cebu operates a shipbuilding plant inside AIC West Cebu Estate in Balamban, Cebu. AIC said that the launch reinforces Tsuneishi’s reputation for delivering high-quality vessels and solidifies its position as a leader in the global shipbuilding industry. Operating for over 30 years, Tsuneish Cebu has launched nearly 400 ships and delivered over 360 vessels worldwide.



“West Cebu Estate’s strategic location and robust infrastructure have been instrumental in fostering a thriving maritime ecosystem, further solidifying the Philippines’ reputation as a global maritime hub,” AIC said. AIC vice president for Cebu Economic Operations, Cyel Auza, described the economic estate as a “quickly emerging economic hub in Western Cebu,” currently undergoing a 39-hectare industrial expansion. This development aims to diversify its locator base to include light to medium manufacturing, with new investments already flowing in to generate additional employment opportunities for the community.

The expansion will also feature a business district with commercial lots for sale, a neighborhood mall with a transport terminal and a communal park to serve the needs of the estate and its growing population. / KOC.
