Trump’s ‘campaign cabinet of kooks’ is a gift to Harris, media

Donald Trump must ask himself: Does he really want to lose an election over Laura Loomer?

Kamala Harris gave an interview on Friday that reminded everyone why the Democrats don’t allow them. Rambling, pointless. This wasn’t word salad, it was word jambalaya.

Most of the press would be concerned — if they weren’t writing their 10th story about Laura Loomer. For reasons that boggle the mind, Donald Trump let the self-described “pro-white nationalist” tag along to the debate and the 9/11 anniversary. She repaid the favor by insulting Indian-Americans and reminding people that she thinks the terror attack was an inside job.

We know her support for Trump is as unwavering as her face, but these aren’t, as the former president once said, “the best people.” A kooky Cabinet of Deplorables have attached themselves to Trump like remoras, throwing out conspiracy theories when he should be talking about policy: Loomer, Tucker Carlson and the vloggers who get paid in rubles come with dark hearts and bad ideas. Some independent voters look and wonder: If Trump wins, will Loomer show up in the White House? Will Carlson redecorate and throw out the bust of Churchill? These provocateurs aren’t serving the campaign, they are only serving themselves.

Despite weeks of the press blocking and tackling on her behalf, Harris is barely tied with Trump in the swing state s. This may be her ceiling, but we suspect there are still moderate Republicans who are on the fence this year — not about voting for a Democrat, but leaving the top line blank.
